Just as she was about to leave the washroom all confident and pretty, in came three other hot, beautiful and sexy girls. They paraded and sashayed to the front of the mirror, out spilled their branded cosmetics, french perfumes, while their designer bags looks dolly at them. Each sentence they aired out was all about yesterday's glamour party, the food at the italian dinner at the yacht and they went on and on complaining, gossiping and whinning over nothing important.
And the girl looked at herself in the mirror again before she exits. Alright i am ugly, she sighed.
I can sooo relate to this scenario. Many times at home, at work, with friends or even in my own toilet, i cant bear to look at myself. For that irritating pimple or the strange way my hair has parted or that flabby bolt of fats on my arms to that thunder thigh i got. I feel so ugly and small and i want to hide or disguise myself.
With makeup, with hats, with sunglasses, with spectaculars, with books, with everything i can hold on to, I find my own hiding place. And if ever someone says, hey your dark circle looks quite bad. I search deeper for more ways to hide. I do not know how many can relate to this? But its somthing i have been dealing with for the longest time!
Although many times, people may compliment on me, but i always tend to remember the negative and bad points and dwell so much on it that i forget the good points. The cycle goes on and on. But slowly, i am starting to believe in the beauty i have for i was made in Christ likeness.
God is love, God is beautiful and gorgeous. And so am i.
It is tough to believe but the truth speaks no lies.
Very often, we fall into deception by judging our worth according to the world's standards rather than God's.The world's system of competition and comparison is destructive and brings feelings of intimidation and inadequacy as it pits one person's God-given gifts and potential against that of another.
We all want to be somebody. The truth is, God created each one of us to be somebody and no life is an accident or unwanted in His eyes. He has given us each a distinct purpose or calling. It is not humility to deny the Lord's extraordinary qualities in us, it's low self-esteem. Webster's New World Dictionary defines self-esteem as "belief in oneself and self respect." Low self-esteem, which is a lack of those two qualities, is the habit of accepting lies about oneself.
We need to be able to see that without money, without a job, without your talent, without having your hair done or makeup on, without being thin, without nice clothes, house, car,or family, you are worth something. When I allow God to show me what He thinks of me and let it sink in and penetrate every fibre of my being, whatever is added or taken away doesnt make or break me.
The bible says,"A house divided against itself will fall"(luke 11:17) This means that a person who has turned against himself wont make it. A large amount of my emotional pain may be caused by believing untrue things about myself. Many times God was the ONLY one who believed in me, but that was enough. I know now that because I believe in Him and He believes in me, I can make it! So can anyone!
" The very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do no fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." (luke 12:7)
