Do I really know..

WHO I AM?

A girl,a daughter,a friend,a sister,a worker,a servant of God. All these labels sums up my role in my life.Having not blogged for almost a week,i have been reading, praying and one story really struck me.(Awareness by Tony de Mello)

A man found an eagle's egg and put it in a nest of a barnyard hen.The eaglet hatched with the brood of chicks and grew up with them. All of his life the eagle did what the barnyard chicks did, thinking he was a barnyard chicken. He scratched the earth for worms and insects. He clucked and cackled. And he would thrash his wings and fly a few feet into the air.

Years passed and the eagle grew very old.One day he saw a magnificent bird above him in the cloudless sky.It glided in graceful majesty among the powerful wind currents, with sacrcely a beat of its strong golden wings. The old eagle looked up in awe."Who's that?"he asked.

"That's the eagle, the king of birds," said his neighbour."He belongs to the sky.We belong to the earth-we're chickens." So the eagle lived and died a chicken, for that's what he thought he was.

After reading through this story, there is a strange flying feeling in me.I can relate to the eagle in some way.It made me realized that many times in life I am sleeping.I believe like many people, they do not know they are asleep. They're born asleep, they live asleep, they marry in their sleep, and they die in their sleep without ever waking up.Yet spirituality means waking up.

AH...Waking up is unpleasant.I am comfortable in bed and its irritating to be woken up.What we always want is relief for a cure is painful.Yet contradictary, the first step to wake up is to be honest enough to admit i do not like it.Jesus proclaimed the good news yet he was rejected. Not because it was good, but because it was new.We hate the new.I hate it! Yet the sooner I face up to the fact the better it is.We don't want new things, particularly when they are disturbing, particularly when it involves change.

Change I have to.Through sharing with others,I saw my past even clearer. Thank you Daddy God for accepting the old me and teaching me the real me.:)
